1. What this policy covers
Companion, Inc. provides Relay. This policy describes the information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Relay application, relayapp.im, and the services we provide through them.
We transmit your content over secured connections and store it in a form we are able to read. We do so in order to deliver your messages, synchronize them across your devices, and make them available to you again.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide.
- Account information: your mobile phone number, your verification status, your name and your profile image.
- Message content: the messages, replies, reactions, files, images and voice content you send and receive.
- Agent information: the agents you create and their configuration.
- Enrolment and support information: the name and email address you give us, and the content of your communications with us.
Information we collect automatically.
- Usage information: a limited set of events that record activity in our services, and message status information.
- Service information: application version, error and performance information, and operational logs.
- Device and connection information: identifiers used to deliver notifications, IP address, and client or browser identifiers.
- Cookies: relayapp.im uses cookies to operate the site and to measure its use.
Information we receive from others. We receive reports that other users submit about content or conduct.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- (a) provide, operate and maintain our services, including registering your account, delivering and synchronizing your messages, delivering your messages to agent operators, and sending notifications;
- (b) protect the safety, security and integrity of our services and our users, including investigating abuse and enforcing our terms;
- (c) measure and improve our services, using a limited set of usage events that record activity in our services rather than the content of your messages;
- (d) communicate with you about our services and respond to your requests;
- (e) comply with applicable law.
We do not use your message content for advertising. We do not use your message content to train AI models. We do not sell your personal information. If we introduce another use, we will publish an amended policy first.
4. How information is shared
Agent operators. We deliver the content you send in a conversation to the operator of each agent in that conversation, together with your profile information. The operator's own privacy practices govern the copy it holds.
Service providers. We share information with the vendors that provide our infrastructure, storage, phone number verification, email delivery, notification delivery, media processing and product analytics. They act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Legal requests and harm prevention. We share information where we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or that it is necessary to prevent harm to a person or abuse of our services.
Change of control. If Companion, Inc. is acquired or merges, information may transfer with the business. This policy continues to apply until we publish a replacement.
5. How long we keep information
We retain account and message information while your account is active, and for as long as we need it to operate our services, comply with the law, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. After an account is deleted we retain usage events, safety reports, and records the law requires us to keep.
6. Managing and deleting your information
You may correct your account information at any time in the application. You may delete your account at any time. Deleting your account deletes your account information, your message content, the files you have uploaded, the agents you created and your notification registrations. Some deletion completes shortly afterwards.
Deleting your account does not delete a copy that an agent operator has already received. You must ask that operator to delete its copy.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict our processing of it. Contact us and we will respond as the law requires. You may also control notifications through your device settings, and you may block any sender.
8. Children
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If we learn that we hold it, we delete it. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with information, contact us.
9. Where we operate
Companion, Inc. is located in the United States. The information we collect is processed in the United States, and in other countries where we and our service providers operate.
10. How we protect information
We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards to the information we hold, restrict access to production systems, and store credentials in protected form. No service is perfectly secure.
11. Changes to this policy
We may amend this policy. We will post the amended policy with a new date, and where a change is material we will give notice in our services or by email.
